How to Measure for a Tuxedo or Suit
Raise your arms out to the sides, then lower them. Wrap the tape all the way around your chest, right under the armpits. Keep the tape straight across your back. It should be snug but you should still be able to fit a finger under it. Round up to the nearest inch.
Arms relaxed at your sides. Wrap the tape all the way around your chest and over both arms (not under them). The tape goes across the upper back, over the shoulders, and across the front. Keep snug. Round up to the nearest inch.
Wrap the tape around the bottom of your neck, right where a shirt collar buttons. Leave enough room to fit one finger between the tape and your neck. Round up to the nearest half inch.
Start at the center of the back of your neck. Run the tape over your shoulder and down your arm to your wrist. Keep your arm relaxed with a slight bend at the elbow. Round up to the nearest inch. If you're between sizes, go longer.
Wrap the tape around your waist, just below the belly button. This is higher than where you normally wear jeans. Keep the tape flat and snug but don't squeeze. No slack.
Wrap the tape around the widest part of your hips and across your backside. Keep the tape level all the way around. Don't pull tight, just let it sit flat.
Stand up straight in the shoes you'll be wearing. Measure from the top of your waistband straight down the outside of your leg to the floor. When in doubt, go shorter rather than longer.
